If you’re anything like me, then right now, you definitely have an AirBnb tab open on your browser. Just as the weather is getting tougher to handle by the day, I’m pretty sure that an exotic getaway, is whats on everyone’s mind. Now just remember, you don’t always have to check in a suitcase to look bomb A. F and that’s why I have compiled a few ideas and tips on how to travel in style while fitting everything you need in a carry-on.
First and foremost, start by choosing separates for multiple functions. Begin with these ten essentials. I always bring two T-shirts, two blouses, a printed and a solid, two dresses that can work from day to night, one neutral pant, a pair of shorts, one cute flowy skirt and a blazer that can go over it all.
Its kinda hard to believe but with these ten items you can probably make about 14 different outfits. Then, throw in a couple of special pieces like a vibrant dress that goes on its own or a beautiful kimono that works over a swimsuit for day or a slip dress for night.
Simplify your beauty look. Chose products that are optimised for multitasking, like a cream based tinted pigment that can work for your cheek and lip and a sunscreen stick that can fit anywhere. This is also the perfect time to use all those samples and hotel supplies that you’ve been secretly hoarding. Then, top it off with travel sizes of your favourite products.
For jewellery you can use small zip lock pouches and have them all in one place.
The most important tip is to pack only versatile shoes. So be smart to chose footwear that goes with multiple outfits, like a stylish slide that works at the beach or dinner. And a neutral pair of flats that goes with everything. Don’t bring a pair you’ll only wear once. Make sure when you’re fitting it all in a carry on you don’t forget to take advantage of the airlines allowance for personal items like laptop bag and handbag. I personally carry a medium sized duffle bag so I have everything I want at arms reach. And instead of using your little sling on the plane pack it inside a larger bag so this way you have more options.
Lastly don’t forget to leave some extra room in your carry-on for some inevitable shopping you’ll end up doing on your trip. If you can then pack a small cloth bag for gifts and those last-minute purchases. Finally, when you’re ready to head out wear your bulkiest pieces on your way to the airport. This is usually the jacket, hat and a wrap, which end up taking the most space.
Hope you get the outfit inspiration to plan your perfect #ootd for your incredible vacay. Bon Voyage !
